GENERAL TIPS FOR WOOD, UPHOLSTERED AND LEATHER FURNITURE
- Humidity and room temperature play an important role in the longevity of wood, leather and upholstery. Ideal conditions are humidity of 50-60 percent and a constant room temperature of 20° degrees. These conditions can prevent wood from shrinking and swelling, thus preventing cracking. Apartments, of course, are not a laboratory with constant conditions and fluctuations in temperature and humidity. Due to heating in winter, the air is often dry and very warm. When a lukewarm breeze blows through the windows in spring, it transports moisture. It is quite normal and natural that natural materials react to this. So when heating and ventilating, don't just think about your well-being - your furniture also appreciates a balanced room climate.
- Avoid direct exposure to sunlight. Unfiltered UV rays discolor and damage wood, lacquers, fabrics and leather over a shorter or longer period of time. So better not to put the furniture in direct sunlight if your rooms allow it. If your furniture is exposed to sunlight, you can put curtains - the most effective are sun protection curtains- for protection and draw them during the intense sun hours. To avoid shadows and marks caused by intense sunlight, do not leave any objects permanently standing or lying on it during the first weeks after moving in your new furniture. By the way, conifers are particularly sensitive to light.
- Always place furniture at a sufficient distance from radiators or other sources of heat or cold.
- Always test all cleaning and polishing agents on an inconspicuous area first.
